We had the pleasure of meeting Cassandra and Cane with their extraordinarily tasty homemade bites and their unique juice bar at The Eco Market in Sliema. As one of the pop-up vendors present on site, naturally their business values are aligned with promoting healthy products and sustainable lifestyles. Cane’s ingenious blender bike invention however offers inquisitive customers the chance to blend their own juices with their own pedal power – taking the concept of sustainable juicing to a whole new level!

Biome Munch specializes in homemade healthy sweets, breads and snacks which are free from refined sugars and artificial ingredients. Cassandra experiments with alternative ingredients such as using blended chickpeas as a flour substitute, and mixing vegetable ingredients into the sweets. It is clear everything is made fresh and with lots and lots of love.

With a focus on sourcing and promoting local ingredients, they also offer up a mix of delicious juices with the blended juice of the prickly pear cacti leaf being the base of the beverage. This was a first for us – it’s unique, truly delicious and highly hydrating. Cassandra notes

“We don’t want our healthy products to just be in a niche market only, we want to ensure we are offering quality healthy food at a reasonable price by bringing in local products that people can find everywhere.”

Cassandra’s passions are rooted in dance, her journey in high performance dancing lead to a desire to understand at a deeper level nutrition, and how food can power us but keep us healthy at the same time.
